DEV: Hawks too slippery for Northern Blues
Box Hill has chalked up its fifth consecutive win to start the Development League season following a 85-point walloping of the Northern Blues at Box Hill City Oval on Sunday.
The Hawks were dominate right from the outset, as the Blues were left goalless well into the third quarter.
Playing in what has become well-accustomed wet conditions at City Oval, the Hawks were far too slippery for the Blues, despite the endeavor of the Northern team.
The contest was in stark difference to the match the two teams played out only two weeks ago, where the Hawks had to rally at half time to claim victory.
Young gun Joseph Fisher was the standout for the Hawks across the backline while Chris Jones was prominent figure up forward, booting two goals.
Once again, it was the Hawks’ midfield dominance and defensive structures that were the catalyst for the victory, restricting the Blues to just the 26 points and a season average points conceded of a mere 42 over five games.
Box Hill looks set to face its fiercest test of the season when the undefeated Hawks come up against perennial contenders at Box Hill City Oval on Saturday, with the game set to get underway at 9am due to Channel 7’s broadcast of the senior game.
