Box Hill sign former Brisbane Lion!

The Box Hill Hawks Football Club are excited to announce the signing of former Brisbane Lion Billy Evans for Season 2017.

Originally from Bendigo, Billy was picked 4th overall in the 2015 AFL Rookie Draft. He played 7 games for the Brisbane Lions from 2015 to 2016, with his debut coming in his first season in Round 19 against the Gold Coast Suns.

His AFL experience will be a valuable asset to the young Hawks playing group in 2017 that achieved success in the VFL Development competition this year.

“By just looking at the players here at the club and those drafted onto AFL lists previously really attracted me to Box Hill. Along with this is the opportunity to work with the great resources at the club including coach, Chris Newman.”

With pre-season training commencing in a few weeks’ time, Evans stated he was excited to meet his new teammates. “I’m just looking to fit into the team and earn the respect of my teammates”.

After getting a taste of AFL action, Evans continues to have the drive and desire to compete at the highest level. “I will be looking to continue to develop my game here at the Box Hill Hawks and hopefully earn my way back onto an AFL list.”

The Box Hill Hawks are looking forward to seeing Billy Evans play in the Brown and Gold in 2017!
