Adduci Re-Commits

The Box Hill Hawks are pleased to announce that Vincent Adduci will remain in Brown and Gold for the 2018 season.

The energetic, hardworking small forward emerged as one of the great success stories from 2017, playing twelve senior games – including the Qualifying and Preliminary finals – following a round one debut in a positive maiden campaign at City Oval.

Having successfully navigated his first season at VFL level, Adduci didn’t have to labour too long on a decision whether to return for a second.

“Last season was as hectic and enjoyable a year of footy as I’ve ever had, so re-signing was a very easy decision. I’m over the moon that the Club wanted me to stay on in 2018.

“The footy club is very much a home away from home for me and I’m honoured to be playing for a guernsey with such a rich and successful history.”

To talk to Adduci about his football – where it is and where its going – is to have a conversation that is more about confidence than ability, with the youngster readily admitting the former is something he’s working on.

“For the first time in my footy career, last year I decided to not be so overwhelmed by trying to be or do anything special, which took away the pressure which can come with footy.

“I’m a naturally shy sort of person, so whilst last season I did a few good things I flew under the radar a little bit.

“I really need to have confidence in myself and use those things and all the good progress I made as a launching pad into a big 2018.”

As preparations for 2018 continue apace, Adduci is resolved to put a few niggles behind him and bound into the new year.

My pre-season has started off pretty well. I’ve had a few little soft tissue injuries to work through, though nothing too serious.

“The aim is, obviously, to play as much senior footy as I can this year.

I want to become more confident in my abilities and also become more of a leader; for me 2018 is about taking my footy to another level and hopefully having a break out season.”

“The prospect of doing that whilst helping generation next is what spurs and inspires Adduci.

“I’m excited to do all of that whilst building relationships with the new young players.

“Hopefully I’ll be able to help push them to have the kind of years I had last season.”
