Vale Bruce Craig

📁 News 🕔13.February 2015

It is with deep sadness that the Box Hill Hawks today acknowledge the passing of Club legend Bruce Craig at the age of 81.

A veteran of 146 games (eighth on the all-time games list for Box Hill), Bruce was a dominant Centre Half-Back during his eight seasons with the Club between 1956 and 1963.

His efforts paved the way for Box Hill to feature in three finals campaigns during that time and such was his importance to the team, Bruce received the Club Champion Award a record five times.

For his achievements during his Box Hill career, Bruce was named as the starting Centre Half-Back in Box Hill’s Team of the Century.

Off the field, Bruce was a much-loved figure who endeared himself to all those who had the pleasure of his company.

The family would like to extend an open invitation to all of those who wish to attend Thursday’s memorial to pay their final respects.

From the wider Box Hill family, we would like to extend our condolences to Bruce’s family and friends through this very difficult period.

Rest in peace, Bruce
