Development record first up win for 2017!

It was a nail biting game for our reigning Development Premiers but a dominant fourth quarter saw Box Hill run away with a 22-point victory over Sandringham.

Box Hill began the game displaying strong pressure across the board however their efforts were not rewarded with Sandringham scoring the first three majors of the game.

It seemed as though the boys would enter the first break without making a mark on the scoreboard however Jack Cod-Miller found Xavier Dimasi on the run to convert Box Hills first.

The Second term saw Box Hill’s forward pressure increase managing 15 inside 50’s for the term resulting in four goals for the Hawks to Sandringham’s one.

Goals from Dale Hehir, Lachlan Williams and Liam Jeffs late in the second were crucial for Box Hill to hit the lead heading into the half time break.

The third term saw a lapse in communication causing simple errors resulting in Sandringham kicking two goals in quick succession and taking the lead five minutes into the third quarter.

The boys made up for this coming into the last term firing. Suffocating Sandringham’s ball movement and keeping majority of the play in their forward half of the ground.

Connecting well down the line Box Hill were able to boot three majors in the first five minutes of the quarter once again taking the lead from the Zebras. From that point on the hawks were in total control of the game with goals that seemed to allude them in the first 3 quarters now becoming easy.

Billy Murphy, Brayden Kilpatrick and Trent Castledine also impacted the scoreboard with another three goals, taking the count to 6-0 for the quarter. Sandringham again changed the momentum of the game, late in the quarter with two consecutive goals but it was too little to late. As the final siren sounded Box Hill had 22 points over the Zebras.

This week will see our development side taking on Coburg at Box Hill City Oval for our first home round of the 2017 season.
